As one of Australia’s oldest and most successful diversified land use consulting companies, Geolyse began in June 1989 as Hoynes Wheeler and Company and for most of its early history was primarily involved with the provision of services and merchandise to businesses in regional NSW.

Company History
Geolyse celebrates its anniversary on the 5th June 2014.

Hoynes Wheeler and Company opened for business on 5 June providing civil
engineering and surveying services across the Central West. Stephen Hoynes and Des Wheeler and a part time secretary operated the business at 105 Macquarie St, Dubbo.

Matthew Thorne joined the company bringing additional survey and town planning skills to the company. The company also maintained an office in Coonabarabran operating out of the premises of a local solicitor.

The company expanded with the addition of a new office in Lords Place, Orange through the purchase of Alfred Stephen and Raymond. Geolyse is proud to be able to state that an original employee of that company remains with Geolyse to this day. This office initially offered surveying services with the civil engineering, town planning and environmental assessment being provided from the Dubbo office.

Company name changed to Hoynes Wheeler & Thorne Pty Ltd.

Martin Haege joined the company initially working in the Dubbo office before moving to Orange to enable environmental engineering services to be provided from the Orange office.

The Dubbo office relocated to larger premises in Church Street.

The company name changed to Terra Sciences Pty Limited to better reflect the services offered. The Orange office relocated to larger premises in Sale Street.

The company name was changed to Terra Consulting (NSW) Pty Ltd.

The Dubbo office relocated to larger premises at 62 Wingewarra Street.

Terra Consulting (NSW) became Terra Consulting (Aust) Pty Limited to reflect the proposed expansion of the company interstate.

A new company name of Geolyse Pty Ltd was adopted. At this time Geolyse had offices in Dubbo, Orange, Newcastle, Perth, Toowoomba, Tuncurry and Miami.

Architecture was added to the services offered by Geolyse.

The Perth and Newcastle offices were closed.

In June the company restructured and the Orange and Dubbo offices remained operating under the name of Geolyse.

The Orange office relocated to larger premises in Peisley Street.

Geolyse celebrates its 20th Anniversary.

New General Manager Greg Cooper was appointed. Strategic Business Plan developed.

Structural Engineering Services.

Geolyse celebrates its 25th Anniversary.

Oran Park Office Opened.

General Manager relocates to Oran Park Office.
